Thrust into the savage Martian past, Garvey Dire must solve the mystery of time in a world of alien monsters and brutal violence or see his own world destroyed by war.

“I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again and I’ll keep on saying it until they slam the lid shut: Dire Planet is the best Edgar Rice Burroughs novel not written by Edgar Rice Burroughs.” -Derrick Ferguson, author of Dillon and the Voice of Odin.

“If high adventure and deeply realized alien cultures with lots of beautiful warrior women are your bag, you owe it to yourself to check this sucker out.” -Russ Anderson, editor of How the West was Weird 1,2, and Campfire Tales.

From the Author

This novel originated as a serialized story written for Frontier Publishing, appearing on a bi-weekly basis. I wanted to do something in the tradition of Edgar Rice Burroughs’s John Carter Warlord of Mars–something that brought that sense of awe and excitement that I felt when I first read those stories–yet I wanted to write something unique enough to stand on its own.
Dire Planet fits nicely into the genres known as planetary adventure or planetary romance, but I like to call it sword and science fiction.  It takes place on Mars and features stranded American astronaut Garvey Dire, who is not nearly so good with a sword as John Carter of Edgar Rice Burroughs’s novels, but what he lacks in skill he makes up with persistence and tenacity, and the fact that his musculature is used to gravity that is three times stronger than on the Martian planet.
After Frontier Publishing was through serializing Dire Planet, this novel was published by Cyber-Pulp, Rage Machine Press, and now PulpWork Press which has also published the succeeding four novels.

Aye, he’d do it, and gladly. It would mean a reprieve from the headman’s axe—a few more precious moments of life and love… though his lover be a witch!

THE VIRGIN OF VALKARION—Tonight, so spake the Temple Prophecy, a sword-scarred Outlander would come riding, a Queen would play the tavern bawd, and the Thirty-Ninth Dynasty should fall with the Mating of the Moons!

Skies of Venus: A Novel of Amtor (The Wild Adventures of Edgar Rice Burroughs

Dark Tides of Mars: A Novel of Barsoom (The Wild Adventures of Edgar Rice Burroughs)

For more than a century readers have been entranced by Edgar Rice Burroughs’ arid red planet of Barsoom, with its valiant city states and hordes of four-armed green Martians inhabiting the dead sea bottoms, all pitted against one another in a deadly fight for survival. But what was ancient Barsoom like in its prime, before the oceans evaporated and its proud peoples were forced to construct an atmosphere factory to keep themselves alive on a dying world? Find out the answer in Dark Tides of Mars: A Novel of Barsoom by Chris L Adams, the newest volume in the Wild Adventures of Edgar Rice Burroughs series!

Barsoom is dying, its atmosphere thinning with each passing year, the seas that once flourished upon its surface dried up eons ago. When warrior-scientist Dat Voga is asked to become Helium’s ambassador to distant cities that may provide a desperate chance at life for the people of Barsoom, he leaps at the opportunity. But even as this new hope dangles on a thread, a madman seeks to hasten the Red Planet’s doom-and Dat Voga is hurled headlong upon an odyssey across the chasm of Time itself!

John Carter of Mars: Gods of the Forgotten (Edgar Rice Burroughs Universe)

News of the passing of a dear friend spurs John Carter, Warlord of Mars, to investigate a series of perplexing mysteries in the forbidding icy northern reaches of Barsoom. The enigmas only deepen as he embarks upon a journey to the far-flung treasure city of Gathol with his spirited daughter Tara and an unexpected stowaway. Ensnared in an insidious conspiracy that reaches from his early years on the Red Planet back into the dim recesses of the ancient past, John Carter and his trusted longsword are now all that stand in the way of a dread menace that threatens the existence of all life on Barsoom.

Also includes the bonus novelette “Victory Harben: Stormwinds of Va-nah” by Ann Tonsor Zeddies

Continuing her wayward journey upon the currents of spacetime, Victory Harben arrives in the strange hollow interior world of Va-nah from Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic The Moon Maid. Thrust into an uneasy alliance with a renegade Va-gas warrior and her young son, Victory must turn all her wits and skills toward survival-for she and her companions have been marked for death by the brutal the Kalkar soldiers under the reign of the vile tyrant Orthis.

THE FIRST UNIVERSE OF ITS KIND

A century before the term “crossover” became a buzzword in popular culture, Edgar Rice Burroughs created the first expansive, fully cohesive literary universe. Coexisting in this vast cosmos was a pantheon of immortal heroes and heroines–Tarzan of the Apes, Jane Clayton, John Carter, Dejah Thoris, Carson Napier, and David Innes being only the best known among them. In Burroughs’ 80-plus novels, their epic adventures transported them to the strange and exotic worlds of Barsoom, Amtor, Pellucidar, Caspak, and Va-nah, as well as the lost civilizations of Earth and even realms beyond the farthest star. Now the Edgar Rice Burroughs Universe expands in an all-new series of canonical novels written by today’s talented authors!
