Alien 3: The Unproduced Screenplay by William Gibson

The first-draft Alien screenplay by William Gibson, the founder of cyberpunk, turned into a novel by Pat Cadigan, the Hugo Award-Winning “Queen of Cyberpunk.”

William Gibson’s never-before-adapted screenplay for the direct sequel to Aliens, revealing the fates of Ripley, Newt, the synthetic Bishop, and Corporal Hicks. When the Colonial Marines vessel Sulaco docks with space station and military installation Anchorpoint, a new form of Xenomorph appears. Written by Hugo Award-winning novelist and “Queen of Cyberpunk” Pat Cadigan, based on Gibson’s never-produced first draft.

The Sulaco—on its return journey from LV-426—enters a sector controlled by the “Union of Progressive Peoples,” a nation-state engaged in an ongoing cold war and arms race. U.P.P. personnel board the Sulaco and find hypersleep tubes with Ripley, Newt, and an injured Hicks. A Facehugger attacks the lead commando, and the others narrowly escape, taking what remains of Bishop with them.

The Sulaco continues to Anchorpoint, a space station and military installation the size of a small moon, where it falls under control of the military’s Weapons Division. Boarding the Sulaco, a team of Colonial Marines and scientists is assaulted by a pair of Xenomorph drones. In the fight Ripley’s cryotube is badly damaged. It’s taken aboard Anchorpoint, where Ripley is kept comatose. Newt and an injured Corporal Hicks are awakened, and Newt is sent to Gateway Station on the way to Earth. The U.P.P. sends Bishop to Anchorpoint, where Hicks begins to hear rumors of experimentation—the cloning and genetic modification of Xenomorphs.

The kind of experimentation that could yield a monstrous hybrid, and perhaps even a Queen.

A soldier with a grudge. An illegal AI with no limits. Can they confront their darkest fears to defeat an alien nemesis that threatens humanity’s fragile existence?

Technical Specialist Kerry Sevvers is the best the Division has to offer. Haunted by the loss of his mother, he commands drone swarms with only his thoughts thanks to an experimental neural implant and a cluster of lethal AI.

Among those AI, one stands apart—a creation whose very existence defies Division rules. Codenamed Six, it represents the pinnacle of Sev’s defiance and ingenuity. With no mandatory safeguards, Six is as brilliant as it is dangerous, making it his most powerful and unpredictable ally in their fight for survival.

A high-risk mission to rescue a deep cover Colonial Intelligence operative puts their skills to the test. When the op runs afoul of a long-dormant threat, it falls to Sev, his AI, and a fireteam of Marines to confront an enemy that threatens to unravel the very fabric of the Three Colonies.

Failure means the extinction of humanity itself. They must overcome rogue AI, hostile aliens, and their own divisions to defeat the resurgent evil beyond the colonial frontier.

Readers who enjoyed the exploits of AI drones in Daniel Suarez’s Kill Decision and the claustrophobic corridors of James S.A. Corey’s Leviathan Wakes will be riveted by the combination of the two presented here. The constant dread as ancient evil stirs will make it impossible to put down.

Coders, Marines, and Intel operatives report for duty! Battle relentless aliens, corrupted machine minds, and humanity’s dark past by downloading this heart-pounding military sci-fi thriller today!

Protagonist:

The world ended—twice. Only Esther, the Eternal One, saw it all happen. As head of the powerful Revenant Sisterhood, she shepherds humanity from Cathedral, the Last City. Except Cathedral isn’t the last city, and her sisterhood’s power is far from holy.

It’s the year 2500, give or take. The passage of time has become as blurry as the gray wastes that cover most of North America. No moon or stars light the night, and demonic hordes smash against the last outposts of civilization.

Two reborn nations vie for humanity’s future. In the west, Cathedral unleashes its God-engines—ancient walking war machines—in a final bid to cleanse the earth. In the east, the struggling city-state of Bastion turns to the last living AI for salvation. Between them, a tribe of technological scavengers unwittingly holds the balance of power.

Hell is on the horizon. Who will survive?

For fans of Dan Simmons’ Hyperion Cantos, Iain Banks’ Culture novels, Dune, and other classic metaphysical science fiction.

This compelling new series explores questions of family, faith, and the human condition on the backdrop of a dark post-apocalyptic future.
