Thrust into the savage Martian past, Garvey Dire must solve the mystery of time in a world of alien monsters and brutal violence or see his own world destroyed by war.

“I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again and I’ll keep on saying it until they slam the lid shut: Dire Planet is the best Edgar Rice Burroughs novel not written by Edgar Rice Burroughs.” -Derrick Ferguson, author of Dillon and the Voice of Odin.

“If high adventure and deeply realized alien cultures with lots of beautiful warrior women are your bag, you owe it to yourself to check this sucker out.” -Russ Anderson, editor of How the West was Weird 1,2, and Campfire Tales.

From the Author

This novel originated as a serialized story written for Frontier Publishing, appearing on a bi-weekly basis. I wanted to do something in the tradition of Edgar Rice Burroughs’s John Carter Warlord of Mars–something that brought that sense of awe and excitement that I felt when I first read those stories–yet I wanted to write something unique enough to stand on its own.
Dire Planet fits nicely into the genres known as planetary adventure or planetary romance, but I like to call it sword and science fiction.  It takes place on Mars and features stranded American astronaut Garvey Dire, who is not nearly so good with a sword as John Carter of Edgar Rice Burroughs’s novels, but what he lacks in skill he makes up with persistence and tenacity, and the fact that his musculature is used to gravity that is three times stronger than on the Martian planet.
After Frontier Publishing was through serializing Dire Planet, this novel was published by Cyber-Pulp, Rage Machine Press, and now PulpWork Press which has also published the succeeding four novels.

Larry Niven first published novel

Kzanol was a thrint from a distant galaxy. He had been trapped on Earth in a time-stasis field for two billion years. Now he was on the loose, and telepath Larry Greenberg knew everything he was thinking. Thrints lived to plunder and enslave lesser planets . . . and the planet Kzanol had in mind was Earth!

“His tales have grit, authenticity, colorful characters and pulse-pounding narrative drive. Niven is a true master!”
– Frederik Pohl

“Larry Niven is one of the giants of modern science fiction.”
– Mike Resnick

Footfall by Larry Niven

Considered by many readers the best alien invasion novel to date, FOOTFALL was called “thought-provoking and exciting” by Library Journal and “the best of its genre” by The New York Times.

An alien craft is approaching Earth. Attempts to communicate go unanswered. The welcoming committee of Americans and Russians at a space station is blasted, its occupants killed or captured. Soon the entire Earth, with special emphasis on the United States, is bombarded by asteroids, destroying dams, highways, and infrastructure. The message to humans: total surrender or death to all. A giant rock, the “footfall”, is launched towards Earth, causing even more damage. The aliens land, determined to conquer or utterly eliminate the human race. Understanding a truly “alien” culture and learning how to confront such an overwhelming power make FOOTFALL stand out as an exciting and truly original novel.
“Niven and Pournelle keep the outcome up in the air right up to the last pages.”
– Newsday

“FOOTFALL is simply the best science fiction adventure story I’ve read in a long time.”
– The Providence Sunday Journal

“This nuclear age update of THE WAR OF THE WORLDS is highly recommended.”
– Library Journal

Pelquin’s Comet (The Dark Angels Book 1)

In an age of exploration and expansion, the crew of the freetrader Pelquin’s Comet – a rag-tag group of misfits, ex-soldiers and ex-thieves – set out to find a cache of alien technology, intent on making their fortunes; but they are not the only interested party and find themselves in a deadly race against corporate agents and hunted by the authorities.

Forced to combat enemies without and within, they strive to overcome the odds under the watchful eye of an unwelcome guest: Drake, agent of the bank funding their expedition, who is far more than he seems and may represent the greatest threat of all.

“Intrigue and action in this high octane collision between Firefly, the Bourne films and Indiana Jones. A two-fisted SF adventure, space opera as it should be written!” – Gavin Smith, author of Veteran

“It is his characters who live through the story and make the reader need to know just how it’s all going to pan out, human characters who may seem familiar but then there’s that one thing, that shifted alteration that changes the world and changes the reader too.” – Interzone

Trapped 1,300 years in the past, they have one mission: survive.

In the 23rd century, humanity has been hunted to the verge of extinction by an alien race. When an exploratory ship accidentally travels back in time to Viking-age Scandinavia, the human race is given a second chance. Pursued by the power-hungry King Harald, the four surviving crew members join a ragtag band of Vikings as they pillage their way across Europe. It will take all their ingenuity, courage, and technical know-how just to survive. But survival is only the beginning. To save humanity, they must somehow return to the stars.

Thus begins a decades-long effort to teach the Vikings to build a craft capable of reaching space – a ship that will come to be known as the Iron Dragon.

The Dream of the Iron Dragon is the first installment in the Iron Dragon trilogy. The sequel, The Dawn of the Iron Dragon, was released in June 2018. The saga will conclude with The Voyage of the Iron Dragon in December 2018.

The Iron Dragon is being produced as part of the phenomenally successful Saga of the Iron Dragon Kickstarter, which raised more than $10,000. Meticulously researched and packed with action, The Dream of the Iron Dragon is a must for sci-fi and alternate history fans.

“★★★★★ This is a compelling page turner and, once again, Kroese… not only gets the economics of hyperinflation absolutely correct, but, in the best tradition of science fiction, “shows, not tells” the psychology which grips those experiencing it and how rapidly the thin veneer of civilisation can erode when money dies.” – John Walker, Founder of Autodesk, Inc., co-author AutoCAD, author The Hacker’s Diet, operator of Fourmilab

“★★★★★ Kroese did his homework on financial bubbles, panics, mass psychosis, social collapse, cryptocurrency, and hyper-inflation…. [B]etter than Lucifer’s Hammer, and spookily realistic.” – Hans Schantz, physicist and author of The Hidden Truth

★★★★★ You can see the foundation of the book’s apocalypse in today’s headlines, and that should scare the hell out of anyone. Cannot wait for book two.” – T. Cannon, Amazon reviewer
