(if a trope is near empty it usually mean that i have a list of books for it but didn’t have time to populate it yet, given the number of custom tags I have to write everything manually which takes a lot of time)
Maincategory
:
FANTASY, SCIENCE FICTION, CONTEMPORARY, HISTORICAL FICTION, LITRPG
The main setting,
for things like spy, military, detective, urban fantasy, horror, weird fiction, thrillers etc they belong in contemporary unless they happen long in the past in which case they’ll go into historical fiction,
same for futuristic/cyberpunk novels since science fiction is more about the space age
Also, historical fiction is not only for “serious” stories I’ll put there things that have a more fantasy bend when the book is set in the past.
Weirdwest western and Victorian vampiric stuff goes there along with regular Roman peplum, Viking/Norse themed stories, WW2 military novels ect
use genres and tropes to narrow what you want
Genres :
Hard sf, space opera, military sf, grimdark fantasy, sword and sorcery, noir detective, cyberpunk, post apo, thriller ect.. all the subgenres you can think off to refine the main categories
Tropes :
Further refinement about what you feel like reading next
can include things like vampires, zombies, mercenaries company, Cold War, spec ops, evil cult, Vikings, alien artifact, Lovecraftian, time travel, alternate history… ect
the idea is to allow people to discover new things across classical categories by only choosing a theme or to further refine if there are a lot of results
some might overlap a bit with genre tags by design since the library only permits one choice by tag
Narrator : if you like to listen on audible and have a favorite narrator, can help discover new things they are voicing
Reception :
Classic, for genre-defining works that influenced authors coming after them
Bestseller
and Little known, for things that have flown under the radar of most people but that either me or the community think deserve some consideration
Newstuff : 3 Tags, new author, new series and new standalone novel, for when you feel in the mood to give a chance to a new author writing in one of the genres this site is dedicated to or want to discover a newly published series
Date : sorted by decade: 1900-1950,50-70,70-90,90-2010,2010-2020,2020 Onward

Seriesize : nb of books in the series if relevant
Period : if you’re like me and like to sometimes immerse yourself in another era (include antiquity, Middle Ages,19th/victorian,western,post ww2,cold war, american revolution etc)
Universe : if the story takes place in a well-known universe (example : warhammer,Star wars ect..)
Protagonist : Female lead: for when you want to read something with a badass or crafty female MC since most of the books on the site have a male protagonist I thought it an interesting option
